Speech:

Ø     Thank you Brian and thank you for inviting me here today and the opportunity to say a couple of words.

Ø     First I would like to offer my congratulations to Deb Daly and the team here at the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE.

Ø     In achieving this 3 Gold Star Rating you have cemented the Cookery Schools high standard of teaching and excellence.

Ø     Not only is this a great achievement, it’s also the first time the GCIT have been awarded the 3 Gold Star Award.

Ø     I have experienced the food that has come out of this kitchen and I can honestly say it is of the highest quality and can see why they have been awarded this honour.

Ø     The skills and experiences provided to students here equip them with the fundamentals they need to excel in today’s highly competitive world.

Ø     The staff and teachers should be proud of themselves as this award not only reflects their skill, but their dedication and hardworking attitudes.

Ø     The current 250 students and also future students to be trained here, will only continue to reap the benefits when coming from such a highly industry regarded RTO.

Ø     Not only does this award create more opportunities for the students and staff, but it also benefits the Gold Coast and its tourism.

Ø     Students who are looking for the best training and education will now be inclined to come to the Gold Coast institute.

Ø      This award will also attract international attention and further help promote the Gold Coast as the great culturally diverse city it is.

Ø     The process in which the RTO’s earn these awards not only subject themselves to be put under intense evaluations by industry officials, but the original application must first come from a self evaluation process which can be by far the most daunting.

Ø     Only after this self evaluation process is undertaken will then the institute be rated by industry officials.

Ø     This process creates great competition across the state, but more importantly, highlights this teams pride in their work.

Ø     All 13 teachers at the Cookery School should be congratulated and thanked for sharing their experience with the next generation of the industry and I’m sure each student would agree with me.

Ø     The GCIT Cookery School focuses on equipping its students with the skills needed to survive in the industry, with excellent staff and state of the art resources it continues to provide career opportunities for those willing to learn.

In my opinion they have earned every star, thank you and congratulations once again to the GCIT.
