 Queensland general election - March 21, 2009

Premier Anna Bligh MP has called a general election to be held on 21 March 2009.

I am your candidate for Southport. I have worked hard to represent the people of Southport on the issues that are important, such as protecting the Broadwater, improving our health care system and maintaining high standards in police and emergency services. If elected, I will continue to campaign on your behalf.

I am passionate about Southport, having lived in the electorate for more than 50 years, and passionate about securing it's future.

Please get out and vote on Saturday March 21. Voting is compulsory.

Stronger schools for the future

Election 2009 >>

These are very uncertain times and many of us are worried about the future for our children and Queensland. Our children shouldn’t have to pay the price for the global recession; we need an experienced government that continues to support them.

The best way we can protect our future is by making our schools stronger.

Anna Bligh is committed to strengthening Gold Coast Schools.  Our Premier completed her high school education in the Southport electorate; she knows how important it is to provide our students with the best opportunity to succeed.
As part of the Bligh Government I am committed to building strong schools and giving Queensland kids the best chance to succeed in the tough times ahead.

Anna Bligh has transformed education in Queensland, as education Minister she introduced the Prep-Year.

Anna will make our schools stronger by;

·  Committing $2.5 million to Southport State High School for the construction of the Hospitality and Business Enterprise Centre.

·  Building 240 new kindergartens so every child gets the opportunity for the best start in life.

·  Working with Kevin Rudd’s Nation Building Plan to provide funding for building works for each school on the Gold Coast.

Anna Bligh and I have the experience to lead Queensland through these difficult times. On Election Day I need your support to continue as your strong local voice in the Bligh Government.
