After my successful re-election campaign, I will return for a fourth term as the Member for Southport. Along with this important role I have been appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Fair Trading. This position also includes the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios.

During my time as Minister I will be visiting tourism icons all over Queensland and this page will keep track of my work. I encourage everyone to follow my travels as the Minister by reading below my entries into the Minister's Diary where I will write about my latest experiences.

TNQ Tourism Opportunity Plan

18 proposed tourism investment projects have been indentified as part of the new Tropical North Tourism Opportunity Plan (TOP) which I announced recently with Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Steven Wettenhall in Cairns. A World Heritage Centre, adventure cycle trail and a culinary tourism precinct are among projects considered a high priority for TNQ in the plan which is an initiative of the State Government to provide direction for the sustainable development of tourism in TNQ.

The TOP is 18 months in the making and has been produced by Tourism Queensland in collaboration with the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation and Tourism Tropical North Queensland. This plan will help guide how public and private investment and infrastructure can be brought together to meet our needs looking forward to the years to:
