The Ministerial Diary

After my successful re-election campaign, I will return for a fourth term as the Member for Southport. Along with this important role I have been appointed as the new Minister of Tourism and Fair Trading. This position also includes the Racing and Liquor Licensing portfolios. During my time as Minister I will be visiting tourism icons all over Queensland and this page will keep track of my work. I encourage everyone to follow my travels as the Minister by reading below my entries into the Minister's Diary where I will write about my latest experiences. Peter Lawlor.

Whitsunday Walk a hop, skip and a paddle. The Whitsundays - what a spectacular part of the world! I was lucky enough to head up there recently to officially open the Ngaro Sea Trail Great Walk at Whitehaven Beach along with Member for Whitsundays Jan Jarratt.
It's Queensland's first 'great walk' to cross three islands and is named after traditional owners, the Ngaro People. The Bligh Government built the $1.27 million walk to boost local eco-tourism and provide new ways of exploring the beautiful region. The Ngaro Sea Trail is the jewel in the crown in our $16.5 million collection of Great Walks.
