As an ALP member, you can participate in working together as a group to ensure that the Bligh Labor Government is re-elected at the next State Election.
Getting involved in politics at a local level can be enlightening, uplifting, informative and rewarding. It’s about discussing and debating issues, listening to interesting guest speakers, meeting new people, attending functions and conferences, fundraising and participating in forming policy at a grass roots level.
Any member of the ALP is able to participate in policy committees on issues that you feel strongly about which help drive the party’s policy agenda.
You can be as involved as you like and do as little as you feel comfortable with. There is no pressure to join committees or attend all meetings. The best way to show your support for the ALP is by becoming a member – it’s that easy.
Southport ALP meetings are held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at my office: 24 Musgrave Ave, Chirn Park, Labrador.
