Recently the LNP leader Campbell Newman told the mining industry conference that Queensland had not had a good government since 1986. Maybe he picked 1986 because that is when he arrived in Queensland. I am not too sure how some of the LNP members took that news. We on this side of the House are accustomed to those in the LNP mindlessly denigrating the achievements of Labor governments, but now they are bagging their own side of politics.

Last Wednesday along with the Deputy Premier, Andrew Fraser, I had the pleasure of visiting a local Molendinar business called Your Inspiration at Home to share a tasty plate and hear about the start-up company that is exploding on to the direct marketing scene. Waste Reduction and Recycling BillOctober 13, 2011 – 11:24 am
Mr LAWLOR: The government has a 10-year plan to halve the amount of waste going into landfill by the year 2020. This requires significant waste reforms, including a new waste strategy and new legislation to modernise waste management in Queensland. Newman, Mr COctober 13, 2011 – 11:07 am
Mr Newman document his pecuniary interests—what I thought was a simple and reasonable request. I thought it may be a 24-hour story before Mr Newman put an end to it by acknowledging that it was a reasonable request. Every other aspiring Premier has done this since the Fitzgerald inquiry. After all, he is no ordinary candidate. He is the Leader of the LNP. He has a vote in his party room. He therefore has a big say on issues of policy and legislation before this House.
