 Gold Coast Show will move to new home in Parklands masterplan 

Premier Anna Bligh has announced a long term Parklands Master Plan on the eve of her visit to Kuala Lumpur to make Queensland’s official bid to bring the Commonwealth Games to the Gold Coast. Under the plan, the Gold Coast Show currently held at Parklands, will be relocated to land on the southern side of the Nerang-Broadbeach Road at Carrara.

Athletics track saved and GC precinct construction to continue unabated

The Griffith University athletics track will remain untouched during construction of the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct after alternative land was identified to accommodate new car parking requirements. Local MP Peter Lawlor welcomed the announcement that the running track would be retained as a valuable community facility.

Southport community groups will receive a financial boost from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Member for Southport, Peter Lawlor today announced more than $188,177.64 worth of Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants would be delivered to electorate community groups to provide essential services within their local area. Southport locals needed for public transport advisory group

Member for Southport Peter Lawlor is urging local community members to nominate for a new advisory group of “transport champions” to improve public transport in South East Queensland. Mr Lawlor said the Bligh Government was forming the Public Transport Advisory Group to help make decisions affecting public transport users with a focus on improving people’s experience when using services.
